Cooking connects - not just ingredients, but also people and their stories. In the SUPRA project, women with and without refugee experience come together to share traditional recipes from their home countries and talk about the memories, turning points and new beginnings that have shaped their lives.

‘A dish that is overthrown, like life.’ This is how one of the women describes her story as she prepares magluba - a traditional dish from Iraq. "On Fridays, the smell was everywhere. Our hands in potatoes, our conversations in cucumbers and olives. Today, none of that is there anymore. I came to Germany in 2016 with three girls at my hand. Everything has changed. Just like Magluba."

The SUPRA project brings just such stories to the surface - stories of flight, of loss, of courage and new beginnings. Women from Werkhof Projekt gGmbH's MitiQ (Miteinander im Quartier) project not only share recipes from their homeland, but also the memories and turning points that have changed their lives.

The event will conclude with a SUPRA - a Georgian feast. On 14 June, the traditional dishes of these women will be served while their stories are read and listened to.

A SUPRA means being together, hospitality, a toast to all that has been and to what is to come.

Everyone who is interested in meeting and socialising is cordially invited to become part of the festive table. Drinks and finger food will be provided, you do not need to bring anything.
