We cordially invite you to an artist talk with the Kollektiv.A as part of the exhibition Sammlung A.

The newly formed collective brings together six photographers whose work ranges from portrait and reportage photography to experimental approaches. In conversation, the artists will provide insights into their working methods and the process of creating the exhibition. The individual works and the concept of ‘Collection A’, which unites different photographic positions into a collective collection and thematises the term ‘collection’ in the field of tension between order and chaos, will be highlighted. The artist talk offers space for questions and discussion. The artists are looking forward to a lively exchange with the audience.

Havva Ayvalık

Interdisciplinary artist who works with photography, video art, installation and painting. Her art reflects themes such as identity, migration and feminist issues in the context of personal experiences. In ‘Collection A’, she presents her video work and photographic series ‘The Healing’, which examines the fragmentation of people in unspoilt landscapes and questions our relationship to nature.

Marita Bullmann

Essen-based artist with an international exhibition presence in Europe, Israel, America and Asia. Organiser and curator of the performance art platform Interval since 2013. Founder of the zeit.raum.ruhr network and organiser of the ‘Laundry Clash’. Winner of the Allbau Culture Prize 2023, her art deals with simple actions, rituals and materials to create associative spaces that emphasise the here and now.

Nadine Breuer

studied film and media studies in Frankfurt (Oder), Berlin, Paris and Bochum. Photography serves her as a medium for analysing the world, especially processes of alienation. Her focus is on people within the structure of social absurdity and on details that are emphasised through photography from their apparent banality. In ‘Collection A’, she documents the everyday life of single mothers.

Daša Geiger

Her photographic practice explores the interactions between people and space. After completing her master's degree at the Bauhaus University Weimar in 2024 and spending several years in Spain, she now lives and works as a freelance artist in Herne. For her, photography is a tool of exploration that creates a space in which questions can be asked and connections discovered. In her work for ‘SAMMLUNG A’, she elevates the unpredictable to a method.

Andrea Kiesendahl

Graduate of the Folkwang University of the Arts (2013), works as a freelance photographer specialising in portrait and reportage photography. Her work centres on the authentic portrayal of people. She is particularly interested in the interplay between photographer, subject and viewer. This dynamic triangle enables her to tell stories, capture emotions and open up new perspectives. In ‘Collection A’, she portrays young people in the phase between childhood and adulthood.

Dominik-Antoni Krolikowski

Versatile visual designer and graduate of the Folkwang University of the Arts. He has been working as a freelance photographer, layout designer and artist since 2014. His work is characterised by the combination of different media. As co-founder of Ateliergemeinschaft Beisingstraße e.V., he remains open to various artistic projects. In ‘SAMMLUNG A’, he explores the tension between nature and human design.
