What to do? From exhibitions to supporting programme: Get an overview of everything that is happening during the f² Fotofestival 2025
Campus Stadt der TU Dortmund im Dortmunder U
In a collaboration between the Technical University of Dortmund and the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, students under the direction of Felix Dobbert and Professor Jana Müller have explored the topic of chaos in all its complexity. Photography is used as a medium to get to the bottom of the subjective perception of chaos and to depict it.
In doing so, they asked key questions: Where does chaos begin and where does it end? What role does chaos play in creative and artistic practice? And how is chaos experienced and evaluated in different cultures and societies?
The exhibition presents a wide range of photographic works that deal with chaos in very different ways. The themes range from memories, childhood and inner emotional states to urban situations and political processes. Chaos is often not recognisable in the works at first glance: it requires an intensive examination of the images that function as representatives of chaos in our minds or our society. The works thematise how close chaos and systems of order are to each other. Visitors are invited to engage with the different artistic approaches to the subject of chaos and to reflect on their own perceptions.
